MTR Roving Art: Private Lives - the Daily Objects of Chun Hau-ching
9月 01, 2000
Para/Site Underground is one of our outreach projects aimed at creating opportunities for the integration of contemproary art with society. The MTR Roving Art project offered a chance to explore the possibilities of public art. Tsang Tak-ping, the curator of the project, invited housewife Chun Hau-ching to collaborate int he work. She selected some of her own household objects to represent the fragmented banality of daily life, yet these were objects full of sensitivity and gentleness. Although the final work displayed had to be exhibited at a safe distance from MTR passengers, the process of negotiation allowed both parties to re-think notions of public space and art.
