To kick start Para Site Art Space’s 2007 programme, we are proud to present STABLE – the balance of power, opening in conjunction with Fotanian 2007 Open Studios.

Presented by Para Site Art Space, STABLE – the balance of power features a mix of international and local artists utilizing over 30 videos and banners in a maze-like space. The exhibition looks into different forms of stabilization through activities in specific spaces, instruments of control and power plays, showing how we and the modern society exercises its system of discipline to maintain a balance of power.

STABLE – the balance of power looks into the micro-power structures and complex relationships between spaces and its subjects, and facets of control and authority encountered in our everyday experience. The exhibition examines how artists through various processes of self-discipline and confrontations establish equilibrium in physical and psychological spaces. Over 30 works are exhibited to present different forms of stabilization through spatial specific activities, instruments of control and power plays, depicting ways how we and the modern society exercises its systems of discipline to maintain a balance of power. The exhibition space takes the form as a maze, partitioning space into narrow corridors and enclosed cells, allowing the audience to reflect on their relationship with secure and confined spaces.

STABLE – the balance of power is curated by Tobias Berger and Christina Li.
